Salut, tout le monde! Ajourd'hui, Beci et moi sommes parties avec nos amies irlandais à la petite ville qui s'appelle Narbonne! Have you all been learning as much French as we have? Fear not! In translation: We went to Narbonne for the day with our Irish friends! A perfect, quick (hour and a half) getaway from Toulouse, this tiny village was once a prosperous and important port in Roman times. Just off the coast of the sea, it perfectly captures l'air des français with cafés, restaurants, cobble stones and more. Connected to the Canal du Midi, it's main attractions are the picturesque buildings that bank this long waterway. In typical French fashion, all the shops were closed for Sunday, but we still managed to make our way through the city and stumble upon a farmers market. We stopped at the architecturally unfinished Narbonne Cathedral; once committed to an ambitious addition, the cathedral had to forgo it's building project due to the Bubonic Plague which caused major economic problems for the city. Next to this we found the Alice in Wonderland mega-sized park bench where we made good use of Beci's camera and snapped goofy photos of the four of us. If only we had access to the "Drink Me" potion, we may have managed to properly fit the dimensions! All in all, the day was a success and the four of us had a much-needed break from our studies.
