Hey there guys! In case we didn’t let you know, WE’RE IN PRAGUE. Sorry, but we can't find a way to articulate that statement in any form of subtly, WE HAVE SUCH HAPPY EMOTIONS. With a week of les vacances, we packed our bags and headed off for 9 days of adventure in the enchanting City of a Hundred Spires (I’m sure we’ll be able to explain this title in the days to come). So here it is! The first day of a nine-part saga: On this fine matin d’octobre, we followed the (not-so-yellow) brick road to the Průhonický Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Of course, all great plans have some hiccups, and ours happened to be the mistake of one Canadian making her way through the closing gate (Beci) and the other (me) being trapped on the other side with no way to get in. Tip: know which gates require passes to open and which ones don’t. Especially if said gates don’t otherwise open. Thankfully, the friendliness of the Czech people (and the bewildered/panicked/desperate faces of two young women) resulted in a pass holder letting us in (with much amusement). Now, I don’t know if you’ve ever gone to the Czech Republic during fall, but we've got a hint for what to expect: COLOURS, COLOURS EVERYWHERE. Seriously. A litany of oranges, vibrant yellows, reds - the dream come true of any autumn-aficionada such as Beci and myself. With a natural sentimentality for the outdoors, the two of us fell ardently for the paysage. Just when wandering along the river through the terrain of sloping hills and open valleys – think idyllic and then some – couldn’t have captured our hearts more, we stumbled upon (wait for it) the Průhonický Castle. Peaking out between a break in the foliage, this neo-renaissance château sits at the edge of a lake, embanked by exposed rock and changing leaves. One word: ASLDKJFASG. In Beci’s words, “Our day was a success.” — Jen Quote of the post: "…the thing with October is, I think, it somehow gets in your very blood. Unapologetically. Almost ruthlessly." — Anne Sexton
